Although the 1999 Vermont Forest Resource Plan addresses all forest lands
and associated resources, the plan of action will be implemented primarily
by the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation's Division of Forests,
with assistance from associated partners. Many of the action items are
ongoing efforts, others are modifications of existing programs, while
some are identified as new initiatives.
The Division of Forests has identified 28 distinct programs when preparing
annual budget documents. These programs are carried out by a staff of
64 individuals, located primarily in various field offices near the resources
they manage and the people they serve. These programs range from statutory
responsibility and carrying out obligated rules and procedures, to cooperative
federal/state projects and long-standing programs of assistance to Vermont's
forest owners and users.
