Jay State Forest

Big Jay & Black Falls Tracts

Jay, VT

The Agency of Natural Resources in partnership with the Green Mountain Club is developing a Long-Range Management Plan for the Big Jay and Black Falls tracts of Jay State Forest in the Town of Jay, Vermont.  The Black Falls tract at 3,764 acres and Big Jay with 1,573 make up a significant portion of the 7,951 acre Jay State Forest.

The Green Mountain Club acquired both properties on separate occassions in 1993 and 2001and subsequently conveyed the parcels to the State of Vermont while retaining conservation easements on both tracts.  In addition the Green Mountain Club and the Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation entered into an agreement to share in the management and planning for these portions of Jay State Forest.
