Clarendon, VT
The Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) is currently developing a Long-Range Management Plan for Lower Clarendon Gorge State Park in the Town of Clarendon, Vermont. The 73.97 acre state park was conveyed to the State of Vermont in two separate transactions in 2002 and 2004 by the Vermont River Conservancy. Later in 2003, the Vermont Agency of Transportation conveyed by Executive Order a section of former Rte 7 to provide improved access to the park.
The property includes the presence of Temperate Calcareous Cliff Communities which harbor a variety of rare, threatened and endangered plant species. There is an extensive network of walking trails that lead to a state listed important swimming hole. The site is also listed in the ANR inventory of important waterfalls, cascades and gorges of Vermont.
