Sentinel Rock State Park

Westmore, VT

Sentinel Rock

The Agency of Natural Resources is currently developing a Long-Range Management Plan for Sentinel Rock State Park in the Town of Westmore, Vermont.  The 387 acre portion of Sentinel Rock Farm was donated to the State of Vermont in 1997 by Windsor Wright whose family had owned the property since the 1940's.

The purpose of the donation was to ensure the property's scenic, recreational and open space values are maintained and enhanced and that the public's use and enjoyment of this property can continue well into the future.  Management goals include provisions for keeping the existing fields open so as to maintain the views, provide for public access and compatible recreational opportunities.

Public Comment

The Agency of Natural Resources, Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation, is holding an open house on Tuesday,  August 26th 2008 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Westmore Community Hall.  The public is invited to this meeting to discuss the draft long-range management plan that has been prepared for the Sentinel Rock State Park.

We hope you will be able to attend this meeting and ask any questions you may have regarding the long-range management plan or Sentinet Rock State Park in general.  However, if you are unable to attend, we encourage you to review the plan below.  There will also be copies of the plan to review at the Westmore Town Clerk's office and the Barre and St. Johnsbury District Forests, Parks and Recreation offices.  There will be a 30-day comment period following the open house.  Deadline for comments is September 26, 2008.
