About the Program

Three young girls watering a bareroot tree that they just planted in Brattleboro as part of a Trees For Local Communities grant.

About the Program
Funded in part by a grant from the USDA Forest Service, Vermont's Urban & Community Forestry Program is designed to help communities plan, plant, and care for their community trees. Since the programs inception in 1991, the program has provided technical and financial assistance to over 150 Vermont communities and more than $1,000,000 in competitive grants have been awarded to Vermont municipalities and volunteer organizations all over Vermont.

Financial Support
Through a partnerhship with the Preservation Trust of Vermont, communities that are Designated Downtowns and Village Centers can apply for tree planting grants. We will provide the technical support to the grant program.
